Burning the Totem is very similar when coming in from the coast. Just stick as close to the left wall as possible (running into the wall at an angle that keeps you moving forward).

This may take 2 or 3 tries if you do happen to agro the wrong mobs but we have found it to be the easiest way to get this part out of the way before going in with a team.
